Well I've been digging around my new V10 F-250 for a bout a week to see if I could find some books on maintenance but have not turned up any. Im pretty green on these models so far so I figured that some of the gurus on here could best point me in the right direction. Right now my truck has about 73K on it. When should my next general dealership maintenance occur? Or like do I have a major one ahead of me at all? The main reason I ask because I want to take car of thise truck (maintenance wise) strictly by the book. I need this truck to last until the NEXT (after '09) F-series re-design. I realize these are tough motors, it seems like from my searching on this forum that people are getting some extra life out of these trucks truly by doing maintenance religiously. Josh
If your on your origional set of plugs @ 73k miles, I'd get the plugs changes ASAP. I clean my MAF usually twice a year (once a year is fine), change fuel filter every 10k miles, change trans fluid every 30k miles, grease all grease fittings at every oil change. I changed the transfer case, front and rear diff oil at 30k miles with synthetic so thats good for at least 50k. I have the tires rotated every 8k miles. I usually disregard a lot of what the manual says as far as maintenence intervals goes. The manual wants you to go to the dealer for every simple thing but yet recommend changing the plugs at 100k.
I've done some searching over plug wires too. Am I just basically best to stick with stock or is there ANY brand of plug wires (or spark plugs!) on the aftermarket scene that will be of any improvement?
Thanks for the guides too fellas! I dont have records of the plugs being done, but I bet it wouldnt hurt to replace them anyway.
