I've been on the look out for 16'' rims for my F3 since I don't want the Widow makers. I got a contact about two hours from me, that has 16.5 '' Ford 8 lug rims. He says they are one piece and tubless. I'm not concerned about hub cabs, I just want a steel rim similar in appearance to the original ones. Are 16.5'' rims hard/ expensive to get tires for....obviously not from Walmart. Is anyone familiar with a rim that would sorta match the discription. I don't wanna drive 2 hrs and find out he is selling crap.
What year is your F-3.
The 51 and later ones are easier to find wheels to fit.
The earlier ones are a challenge.
Go with 16's instead of the 16.5's if the wheels will fit.
If you're changing the rear axle anyway, I'd suggest going with 16" instead of the 16.5"s. Much easier to find tires for, and cheaper. Any Ford or Dodge 8 lug x 6.5" circle wheel will fit your front, and these rims are plentiful since they were used up though the 97 model year on F-250/350s. Since your truck is a 49, the 16's might not fit your stock Timken rear since you've got the early 14" rear drums. These were used from 48 to early 51 on F-3s. F-2s used 12" during the whole Bonus Built era 48-52, and F-3s switched to 12" in late 51.
