Transmission questions

First hello to all. I just ordered a valve body and was wondering how many quarts of atf i will need? I wanted to go with amsoil synthetic, good or bad? I run amsoil engine oil and i am pleased with it. And last, do i have to retune my ts chip for my valve body. Any help would be great. Thanks!

If i remember right 18quarts. As far as the oil type is is personal preference. Many people run many different things and what they believe in with there weather/temperature conditions. What is better, syn vs non syn, can be disputed for hours, personally I don't run syn in the motor or tranny. Me and my dad go at it over the same issue. He runs SYN. I don't. He blames all my problems on my oil. I blame his problems on his oil choice. Heck, My mirrors stopped working, He tried blaming that on my RotellaT

Reprogramming, I am totally unsure on this question

I'm a firm believer in syns -- the science doesn't lie. I personally run Mobil1 ATF, and syn Rotella. But that aside, the Amsoil should be fine. Any good name brand lube should do the job. But do yourself this favor -- if you're going to pay for syn, don't dump it at 30k like you would with dino. Send a sample to Blackstone and let them tell you when it's time. I spent about $100 on Mobil1 -- I plan on getting my $$$ worth out of it.

As far as how much you need, it depends on whether or not you're going to do the flush or not. If you're changing from dino to Amsoil syn, I'd get 20 qts and use the method Mark Kovalski wrote. The tranny holds 17 qts total, but by the time you get done with the flush you might need up to 20. I did mine with slightly less but it's good to have it.

DEFINITELY get your chip burned to match the tranny mods. It won't feel right until you do. I'll give you this tid bit as well: If you end up having issues with TS, PLEASE call Tony Wildman! He's the one that tuned my TS, and it absolutely ROCKS! If you need to get a hold of him, go here:
