DIY injectors

Does anyone have pictures/instructions from their diy build?
Does the machine shop make all new intensifier pistons or use the ones you already have?
Thanks guys!
Dan

I'm pretty sure that Neal has pictures from when he did his build. He might have even done a write up, but if it wasnt him i'm sure someone has by now. What size are you going with?

I want to do two's, but i might have to settle for ones. Depends on the difficulty of the machining and the cost. If it's cost/time effective, i would buy a stage 1 kit w/out intensifiers, and then buy the nozzles for twos.
But first i have to install my gauges, exhaust, buy the 6637 and install it, 17* pump, and i'd like to do an intercooler with it all. What i really want is stage 2's without headstuds, firerings or excessive EGT's.
I may go with a D66 as well. been hearing alot of satisfied customers lately.
Or, I may take on my master project of Sequential twins and go for the headstuds, firerings, chromoly rods, girdle and built transmission.
all depends on if i win the lotto...

HAHAHA i hear ya on that one, that would be one hell of a truck. Ya im in the same boat as you. I want 2's but i dont want to fry my motor with the egt's. So i'm looking at an H2E, a 7.3 intercooler, and then the 2's and install them all at the same time..... but then there is always that stupid tranny getting in the way of my plans again lol. Hopefully my boss will be able to order the parts wholesale for the tranny and that would solve that issue. But i haven't worked there long enough to ask for a favor that large.

i would go with 2's in the long run, it seems like most people that go with stage 1's kind of wish they got the 2's. after all, you have an adjustable chip. egt's and boost are controllable.

Yea, I've always looked at stage 2 as overkill, but with a chip, just throw it on economy mode.

I wonder if you can get a wildman chip with Economy Economy mode.
Do you think he will double it up?

hahaha.

I dont know. i've considered calling the two big chip guys and asking if they'll give me an economy mode that limits my injectors to 80-90cc... aka back to stock size, but with the timing that makes better mileage and power.
stage 2 overkill... you're funny lol
430cc's is overkill if you ask me.

I haven't heard that many guys say that 1's and a good chip were not enough, atleast not the daily driver and towing/hauling crowd. I'm very happy with my 1's, and with my TW chip and stock HPOP I still had to add an IC to keep from turning the chip down when towing/hauling. I guess my point is, it depends on what you want and what you do with your rig that should help decide what to get. There's just no point in having so much fuel that you have to turn down the chip and can't use the power when you need it. Some guys race around town empty in short WOT bursts, so they can handle lots of fuel, other guys work their rigs long and heavy, they can't sustain that same fuel delivery without EGT trouble. Unless you want to open the can of worms of HPOP, turbo, water/meth, etc.

Good point MagKarl, I agree with you. One question what is the difference in the EGTs between stage 1 and 2 in the similar moded truck?

I would think you could get 3-4 hundred degrees higher. those nozzles will flow alot more fuel. This, of course, being completely speculation...

Time for you to quit speculating and buy some parts and get busy. Call or email Jim with your injector questions, he's a great guy and will help steer you right. Make some upgrades and then tell us how it works from experience.

I plan to. here's the order of my mods.
1: gauges
2: intake
3: exhaust
4: stage1's
5: intercooler
6: chip or twos, havent decided the order.
transmission will come along with those.
I am, however, on a college student's budget. I also plan to do full write ups and include the EGT and boost differences.
Thats one thing i havent seen, is the differences between 1's and 2's.
