Job interview

I have a job interview tomorrow, first one since I graduated from college.
Basically, it's a company that deals with business accounts for big companies.

Since it's been a while since I had a job interview, any help is appreciated.

I know stuff like "dress professionally" and "bring a resume", but what kind of questions do they usually ask?

my favorite question that i get asked at interviews is "whats a good excues to miss work"

and i always answer with "if your still breathing... you better be at work..." and then sort of laugh... and say something like "umm sort of depends, i guess if its contagious, or a serious injurry and you have a chance at bleeding all over the machines... probablly shouldnt show up... but you need to make sure you call in and let everyone know when and why your not going to be at work"

Some typical questions:
  • Why did you leave your last job?
  • What attracted you to our company?
  • Tell me about a conflict you had with a Supervisor/Manager and how you resolved it.
  • If you've been out of work more than one month, What have you been doing for the past ______?
  • Where do you see yourself in your career in 5 years?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • What are you 3 best strengths?
  • What are 3 weaknesses/areas of improvement?
  • If we were to hire you, what do you think we would say about your performance one year from now?
Some companies like to set up role playing, especially if it's a sales job so be prepared for that. Some tips:
  • Maintain eye contact but don't stare
  • Be serious but smile
  • Be aware of your body posture/language, don't be stiff or too relaxed
  • Don't answer questions too quickly, it's OK (and best) to think before answering
  • Don't speak too long, be concise and answer the question asked
  • Get as much info about the company as you can prior to the interview
  • Be well groomed including hygiene (fingernails, shaven face, etc.)
  • Don't react to taunting, some interviewers will attempt to test your patience as part of their screening process
  • Make sure your resume has no typos
  • It's OK to bring a notepad with questions you may have about benefits, how long has the interviewee been with the company, how soon are they looking to fill the position, who should I follow up with, etc
  • Send a hand written Thank You card ASAP!
Best of luck on your interview!

its best to find out some info on the company and try to incorporate in your answers why you are the best candidate for the job and why you want to be part of their team and what you think you can do for the company
