Job Interview

So I've got a job interview tommorow at a company that does industrial automation, robotics and other things along those lines. This could eventually lead to an apprenticship for me so I want to make a good impression, but I've only ever had one interview 4 years ago and that was for my current retail postion.

I know that most of the people on here have probably been through lots of interviews, so got any tips for me?

Dress neatly and don't be late. These are the first things I notice when I do interviews. Also, have some questions to ask the interviewer about the job itself besides 'how much will I get paid?' Be able to relate your past experience to the job your applying for, even if the two professions are totally unrelated you can usually come up with something, like quality, having responsbilty and following through on projects.

Good Luck!

I havent been to an interview in quite awhile. Ive always found that being slightly humorous helps to ease the tension, and show you are easy to get along with.

Make sure you prepare yourself for the "what is your biggest fault" type question.

ok wear a tie and jacket if you have them, be 10 to 15 mins early, you can sit in your car in the parking lot but dont be late. be calm, be honest, racerchick is right about being able to relate what you are doing to what they need done. remember they have a problem of some kind and you need to show them why you are the best answer to that problem. DO NOT ask how much it pays if you dont already know. ask questions like what would my daily tasks be, who would i report to, why did the last person leave, if you dont have a beard i would say shave if you do have a beard trim it. bring a hard copy of your resume with you (if that is needed) know why you want that job, they might ask you.

I would suggest that you brush up your resume as the trends change frequently. An employer wants a simple, concise relevant employment history, not what hobbies you enjoy- unless it relates to the job in question. There are a lot of good sites for this, I just changed jobs and it had been 8 years since I freshened mine. Food for thought...

Well I've been so busy the past few days I forgot about this thread, I guess I should update all of you who helped out on how the interview went.

Aside from driving up and down the street 5 times before I found the place, the interview went really well IMO. The owner and I got along really well, he gave me a tour of the shop (not sure if that's a regular thing that happens at interviews) and the guys who work there seem like they would be a good bunch to work with. He told me that there were only 3 people including me who he would be interviewing and he's going to let me know this week either way.
