On the topic of the mideast turmoil (Iran/Israel/Palestine...etc)I suggest going to this website for more indepth looks into what's really going on there:

Just my 2 cents worth.
I have been passing that link to the pastor around to a few of my buddies who seem interested the last day or so. Very interesting stuff.

One thing I want to say. From what I have been reading, yes the oil companies have posted record profits, but the percentage of profit is lower. Thats what the complaint is about with the profits. I think I remember reading that there profits were about 11% and they are down to 8%.

"Estimates have been made that crude oil will go to $300 a barrel"

Oil future's market speculators didn't make that quote, American's BEST friend to the South did, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Read article below.

Venezuela's Chavez says oil could reach $300 | Reuters

Hopefully oil prices have peaked at $147, for the time being. With stock prices up for the last couple days, some think big investors have pulled money out of oil and other commodities (which had been seen as safe havens given the financial turmoil of the past year), and finally pumping it back into beaten down stocks.

With last weeks faked missile test, and Chavez as their spokesman, Iran is far from being a threat. Lets get our financial house in order, and give a green light to Israel, when a creditable threat actually exist, to properly address Iran unilaterally.

Just a thought.....Good Luck to ALL
.

Sen Levin was sending me his idea's. It was exactly that, a way to cut down speculation.. Great news, but in the same line he wants to raise the taxes on the profits for the oil companies... So, lower oil prices+higher taxes=same price for us at the pump? But I should feel good about it right, because now my money isnt going over sea's, it paying off my own goverment defecet...

John, where is this place that sells the Bio, and what is it about the fuel lines you were concerned about?

I used this site to find bio before it works well, Biodiesel.org - Retail Fueling Sites.
The place I was going to was in Imlay City on Imlay city road.

My fuel lines are all Parker Push-Lok hoses since I installed the fuel system, and there was a lot of discussion about how they don't really know if they can withstand bio-diesel since they were not designed for the use of them, and biodiesel can eat the lines up. The lines are quite expensive, so I decided to just not risk it. Too scary for me lol.

THanks John, i knew about the place in Imaly city, I had actually got a map to the place for a guy who lives out in Attica. I know that oil and fuel can play hell on rubber lines, but I did not expect veggies to do so.

I agree real interesting stuff!
This is slightly off topic, but i didn't start it, with regards to the Israel/Iran conflict and people cheering on Israel; have you ever heard of the USS Liberty incident?.... No? In 1967 Israel attacked one of our Navy ships for no apparent reason(they say mistaken identity..yeah right!) and killed/wounded many sailors. Read more from the sailors own mouths who where there:LINK.

I've got lots of comments, but don't want to get into my political opinions here and make Scott send me to the corner.

I will say we should consider sending a thank you card to Mexico since their state run oil company started offering long term (2 - 3 year) contracts for oil at current prices last week. When oil companies start locking in prices that means they believe oil is at or near it's peak. Funny how this little tid bit of information leaked out just before oil dropped $16 per barrel, yet we never see this stuff on the news. Some oil producers see now as time to sell - Jul. 17, 2008

I have to tell you...the issue is far deeper than speculators. Ask yourself why has the price of diesel that used to be priced around regular gasoline now more expensive than premium by a lot, especially in the moiddle of summer hwne there is no home heating oil demand.

The reason is that the oil compnies aren't stupid. They know that as the price of gasoline goes up, regular consumers can cut back on their driving. Now, who is the biggest consumer of diesel....how about the transportation industry...trucks, buses and trains?

The trucks and trains that deliver cargo still need their diesel to function so they can deliver the goods that you, I and the lady down the street are buying. They can pass the cost on to us in the form of higher prices. Have you noticed how the cost of food and other goods has goine up? The busses are getting increased ridership because of the consumers who are cutting back, so they will pay the higher diesel as well.

On top of all this, they make all kinds of noise about increasing the production of crude and searching for more crude. The real issue is that despite increasing demand the oil companies have not built a new oil refinery in 30 years. The price of oil has more to do with what the oild companies want than anything else and they are going to squeeze us for all they are worth since the next administration in Washington is less likely to be so friendly to the oil companies.

My 2 cents.

The claim here though is everyone is using diesel, China and ect. That is what I had heard was the story, but I am just not believing it.

A lot of Europe has switched to diesel. I think I remember someone who travel to that region on another forum stating most of the cars he seen were diesels and he rented one.

I use Internet Explorer 7.

If you don't like the current prices for diesel, you better start stocking up...it is likely to get a lot more expensive soon....
.
Israel is sending a few of their generals here this week for discussions with our military. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert just finished visiting with the President. Have you any idea what they have been discussing? Go on, take a guess...

Iran...and Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons and their stated position that Israel should be "wiped-off from the face of the earth" was the topic. Israel (at least the holocaust survivors in Israel) has seen this before - in 1938! The intelligence estimates are that Israel will either 1) attack Iran's nuclear capability without our blessing and/or assistance OR 2) Israel will attack with our blessing and/or assistance. There are a number of IDF (Isreal Defense Forces) officers and retirees that have asserted that Israel will (if necessary) attack with nuclear weapons because of the hardened positions that the Iranians have placed their nuclear research facilities in.

Israel has recently taken delivery from the US of some 5,000 smart air launched weapons including some 500 BLU 109 bunker-buster bombs ( the BLU -109 is a 2,000lbs warhead that can be used in combination with a GPS guidance kit, and can penetrate up to 15 feet of fortified concrete). Israel's main reason for purchasing these weapons are Iran's nuclear facilities, some of which include large underground complexes. The uranium coated munitions are said to be more than adequate to address the full range of Iranian targets, with the possible exception of the buried facility at Natanz, which may require the BLU-113 bunker buster ( capable of penetrating 100 feet of earth or 20 feet of concrete). Given Israel's already substantial holdings of such weapons, this increase in its inventory would allow a sustained assault with or without further US involvement.

Estimates have been made that crude oil will go to $300 a barrel in the futures market nearly immediately following an attack...this places diesel at the $12 per gallon level. Industries dependent on oil (trucking, airlines, auto) will collapse.

another reason for the higher diesel prices is because of the LSD
it cost refineries millions to make changes to there equipment to make LSD.
and the EPA slaps fines on them for millions of dollars all the time as well.
so because of the switch to LSD we have to pay more for it
