I drive 20 miles to a truck stop to get fuel. Around my house it is 4.85ish and I can get it at the truck stop for 4.55ish. I just wish that when the price per barrel went down the price would drop as quick as it does when the PPB goes up.

Monday it was 4.81 tuesday 4.86 then today back to 4.81. Even $4 would sound nice right now.

Last month fox news had an article that said if congress would act, gas would be $2 a gallon, oil would be in the $60-$70 range. Within 30 days. Somthing about passing legislation to control the speculation.

Then the oil companies would "ONLY" be making about $1BILLION in profit PER QUARTER... instead of the almost $11 BILLION that Mobil/Exxon reported - that's what I'd call struggling...

If you don't like the current prices for diesel, you better start stocking up...it is likely to get a lot more expensive soon. Israel is sending a few of their generals here this week for discussions with our military. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert just finished visiting with the President. Have you any idea what they have been discussing? Go on, take a guess...

Iran...and Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons and their stated position that Israel should be "wiped-off from the face of the earth" was the topic. Israel (at least the holocaust survivors in Israel) has seen this before - in 1938! The intelligence estimates are that Israel will either 1) attack Iran's nuclear capability without our blessing and/or assistance OR 2) Israel will attack with our blessing and/or assistance. There are a number of IDF (Isreal Defense Forces) officers and retirees that have asserted that Israel will (if necessary) attack with nuclear weapons because of the hardened positions that the Iranians have placed their nuclear research facilities in.

Israel has recently taken delivery from the US of some 5,000 smart air launched weapons including some 500 BLU 109 bunker-buster bombs (the BLU-109 is a 2,000lbs warhead that can be used in combination with a GPS guidance kit, and can penetrate up to 15 feet of fortified concrete). Israel's main reason for purchasing these weapons are Iran's nuclear facilities, some of which include large underground complexes. The uranium coated munitions are said to be more than adequate to address the full range of Iranian targets, with the possible exception of the buried facility at Natanz, which may require the BLU-113 bunker buster (capable of penetrating 100 feet of earth or 20 feet of concrete). Given Israel's already substantial holdings of such weapons, this increase in its inventory would allow a sustained assault with or without further US involvement.

Estimates have been made that crude oil will go to $300 a barrel in the futures market nearly immediately following an attack...this places diesel at the $12 per gallon level. Industries dependent on oil (trucking, airlines, auto) will collapse.

While I would hate to see the price of diesel at $12/gallon, I have to say that it would be good to see Israel wipe Iran from the face of the earth. They could do it too. They are a tough people.

I agree that Israel the right reason to do so, but damn, 12 bucks a gallon. It would be cheaper to keep the wife at home, and just pay what ever bill hits the mailbox first...screw the rest for the month..

Interesting stuff.
I could say a lot more about Israel, but FTE rules forbid.
And for the record, I'm on Israel's side.
