tire question

ok i just got my truck yesterday
i looked at the tires and they are a 235/70/16 tire
this is also what the placard on the door says too
everywhere i look online it says that the stock tire size is a 255/70 tire
am i missing something here??

the truck is a 99 f150 2wd 4.6L 139 wheelbase

No, 4wd's also had 235's. Mine had them stock and they look like crap compared to 265's I always figured it was a '97-'98 thing but I guess not. Also mine is an XLT so it isn't an XL thing.

I would certainly think so. My 99 came with 265R70-17's and I have no probs at all, no lift, just stock as can be. I'd be interested in knowing otherwise, myself.

My truck has 265's stock, that what the door plate says. I think 265's are part of the "off road" package.

i have a 2000 2wd v-6 reg. cab and i replaced the stock 255/70/16 with 265/75/16. it fits well, never rubs and looks like it always should have in my opinion. The springs are the same on the 2wd trucks (unless it's heavy duty) so it doesn't matter what size came on it stock. 265's will fit.

Yes 265/75s will fit.. i currently have 285/75/16s with no lift on my truck, with a minor amount of rubbing on the sway bar.
