Hi! everybody, I have a 2000 F-150, 4.2 V-6, manual transmission, 18000 miles. While driving in speeds of 70 to 80 MPH, like for two hours, I started noticing a "Miss" or hessitation everytime I would try to accelerate to pass someone, kind of like a rev limiter would do, only that this would go away after a few seconds. It does it when the engine is fully warmed up and in part throttle situations. Any Ideas what can be wrong?, 'cause a vision inspection of vacunm lines and conectors didn't notice anything wrong, also no codes are storage in the Computer. Thanks.
I have a 2000 f-150 5.4l that hesitates right after I start it warm or cold. They have been working for many months on my problem. Yesterday they put new gaskets on the intake, among many other things in the past. It might be sucking air. That's what they are thinking for my truck. Check to see if yours idols a little rough and if it hesitates when you accelerate right after starting the truck. Usually you will notice the problem when starting the truck on a colder day. Get back to me after you check out your truck.
I check for vacunm leaks,I found everything ok. as a matter of fact, I haven't have the problem since I came back to Miami, I drive like 40 miles every day to work and back, and no hessitation anymore. Maybe is just on long trips at high speed. Thanks.
I finally found what the problem was, later also started to have a rough idle at times, so I took it to the dealer and they found the IAC valve( the one that controls the idle speed) was sticking, now my truck works fine.
