Hi: New To The Bronco II World. I Just Bought An 84 BII 2.8 Auto (c-3, C-4?) 4 X 4. It's Seems The Tranny Runs Through The Gears Way To Fast At Low To Moderate Throttle. High Gear At 35 Mph. At Higher Speeds The Shifting Is Ok But At Slow Accelation The Motor Seems To Just Lug Through The Gears. The Vacuum Modulator Is Conected
(i Can't Tell If It's Working) But The Hoses Are Good. The Kick Down Linkage Seems To Be Adjusted Ok As The Higher Speed Shifting Is Ok.
Any Advice Will Be Greatly Appreciated
Thanks
I would check the fluid level first. Also check the condition of the fluid. It most likely could use a new filter and fluid change being that its a few years old. If that does not fix your problem try getting a new vacuum modulator.
I agree with the previous post in all that was said.

Having owned a 1985 with an automatic, I just want to say you might be experiencing normal operating behavior. The 2.8/automatic were dogs, the 2.9L/A4LDs were slightly better. Your transmission is most likely a C-5.
My '94 Aerostar also lugs through the gears at low throttle, for me the engine has more than enough power to handle it anyway. A new modulator might help. You can get adjustable ones that might allow you to change the sensitivity somewhat.
