Jimmi Jammers Help

Ok guys I'm getting ready to do a bunch of work to my truck and I was hoping someone can help me out a bit. I am going to be gutting the interior of my truck to install Second Skin Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner. While I am doing that I also decided to replace my front door handle with a rear door handle to get rid of the keyhole.

This also got me thinking about Jimmi Jammers. I am going to have all the doors apart anyway so I thought I might go ahead and install them. I start shopping around and realize that they are rediculously expensive for such a simple part. I know I could make these myself if someone could help me out a bit. I was hoping someone might have a set they haven't installed yet that they could measure for me and send me the info. Otherwise I will probably order one set, and make the other set myself.

Thanks guys.

$40 bucks to save your truck from being broken into or stolen isn't too much to ask. I have them on mine plus an alarm if they try.

I have an alarm already as well. The thing is I have a crew cab so it would be $90, for about $10 worth of steel. If someone can get me the dimensions I could make these very easily myself. For people that don't have the proper tools etc. to make them I would definitely recommend buying them.

If you bought just one set, you could make another set so it's still only $40, and then you could make some for your buddies and make up all the cost. I am the one that started using the hose clamp around the end of the lock mechanism as I was broken into with a set of Jimmi-Jammers installed. The metal plate of the JJ's surround the lock, but the clip on the end was still vulnerable to the screwdriver entry. When I had my lock fixed after the breakin, I saw where a small hose clamp could be installed inside the the JJ's securing the clip. Now the thief will have to break out the entire lock and that will take time and alot of noise. After a few weeks of this info on TDS web site, low and behold, the JJ people started adding the hose clamp in their package.

After I put the rear door handles on the fron, I got rid of the lock rod.

No need for Jimmy Jammers as far as I can see.

Beerstalker, I wish I could help you out, but I have never actually seen a jimmi jammer. Since you will already have the door apart and have a basic idea of the shape of the metal, I bet you will be able to work out the details. Good luck!

Actually they can still pry the door handles out, then they just have to reach down to the rod for the inside door handle. That one will unlock the door and open it. The Jimmi Jammer helps keep them from prying the handle out at all, so they can't get to anything.

They are sound deadening products. I am trying to get rid of the road noise inside my truck. I love the sound of my tires and diesel engine, but it get's real old on long trips or when you are trying to talk to someone. With this I am hoping to kill most of the noise, then I can just roll down the windows when I want to hear it

I don't have the doors apart yet. I'm trying to get everything bought and ready to go before I do this. I'm going to have to rent a storage garage, and drive my truck without anything in the interior as I do this. So I'm trying to have everything here to help minimize the amount of time my truck is torn apart.

if you dont mind post up on here how difficult the jimmy jammers are to install, cause my local truck shop sells them for 35 a pair. im just curious if they are worth spending the 50 bucks an hour wage for them to install them or do it myself.

Beerstalker, after all the help you've been to people on this site, I really find it kind of depressing that someone with these things won't help you out!!!! I wish I had 'em if for the ONLY reason wou;ld be to pull 'em out and measure them and send it to you!!

I KNOW that this won't stop you from continuing helping with much needed info on these trucks, but I don't know if I could continue doing it!!!! This sucks!!

It doesn't bother me. I really don't expect someone to tear their doors apart to check, but figured someone might have a set laying around they haven't had time to install yet. I know I have a room full of stuff I haven't had time to put on my truck or sell yet.
