I bought a 1996 F-350 that has a 460 EFI in it. The guy said it was a low mileage rebuild. But Had been sitting 3-4 years. So first thing pull the tank, I looked a little rusty on the inside. So I replaced it with a new one and replaced the in-tank fuel punp. Also replaced the in frame fuel filter.added about 10 fresh gallons of fuel. And trife to start it. I can start it by pourin a little fuel in the carb. Also keep it running long as I keep pourin. So first thought was the injkectors, so I gave each of the a few little taps. To see if they will free up. Nut the I took a oaoer clip and pushed in on the valve that is located on the fuel rails. Push after I run it shortly But all i come up with is a very, very small amount of air each it it is run. Not Much I know it2and it was empty. , but it seemd like even though its a big tank I put 10 gallons it it so it should be enought fot the pump to pump up.Any ideas whats up. Ir what I should do
well you said it was a efi but then you said "I can start it by pourin a little fuel in the carb" if its efi it should have a throttle body if its the original 460 that came in the 96. Other than that sorry i dont have any idea on what else you could do.
Sorry " Raider" my mistake. I did not mean carb, I should of typed intake throat. It is a EFI, not carb or throttle Body. Anyway been working a lot of overtime the last few days. So I have not been able to work on it much. But I did get under the truck.and remove the fuel line from the inline frame fuel filter. And turned on the key several times, with no fuel at all come out of the line. I know the pump will not pump more then a few seconds when the key is turned on. But I even got it started pouring in fuel in the intake, and no fuel came out of the line. So Im thinking even though it a new fuel pump its bad,the rely is bad or no electic going to the pump. It is grounded and there fuel in the tank. Also I checked all my fuses and they are good. I have plans on spending more time on it this weekend. I did see that the truck has 3 relays that all look the same, in the same place under the hood, Mostlikey one is for the pump. Is there anyway to tell which one ?
THANKS A LOT ! Guys I am sure I will be posting more as to what I found after Sat.
