Thanks...I'm in the market for a new concealed carry. When I first got my CCW I tried carrying my Smith 500, but that defeated the purpose. I just got my girl a Rohrbaugh 9s...smallest 9mil on the market, 7+1. She's 5'2 120 lbs, so it fits her.
What Colt .45 ACP predated the 1911A and the 1911?
Bill I have no clue...keep in mind I was born in '86 haha. Sounds like I'm gonna have to do a weaponology history search.
1905 Colt, the first in .45 ACP. It was developed by Colt and John M. Browning (who else?) for use in the Philippines against the Moro tribesmen.
The US Army at that time were armed with the anemic 1898 Colt Army revolver in .38 Long. Soldiers fired all 6, the Moros kept on a coming.
The 1903 Springfield was another firearm developed by the Army (and Winchester) because of those Moros. The '98 Krag in .30-40 just wasn't powerful enough.
One tribesman had 13 bullet holes in him and he still kept coming!
I know all this worthless scheiss, and I wasn't born till 1944, so age is no excuse.
The original Springfield Model 1903 was in caliber .30-03, not .30-06.
.30-03 = 30 caliber 1903 / .30-06 = 30 caliber 1906. Winchester developed the two rounds for the Army, btw.
Well not sure you would want the colt 90 as an every day carry it has no safety it is double action. I use it for my carry piece because I want a gun I can pull out the holster and pull the trigger. And it is the same size as the 1911 which I do not favor because the safety features. But I like 45s and was collecting a few till money problems. Bill you have lots of knowledge. So who was the colt 90 developed for?
Getting back on topic... got any pictures? Sounds interesting. I need to put a bed on my truck and am considering a dentside (because the flaresides I've seen don't look that good with these cabs - like a dog with its body shaved), but if there's a flareside that doesn't like like a$$... I might consider it.
I've seen what looks like older model beds ('60's ish) on '73-'79 trucks before. Looks good but kind of odd. I'd like to see a pic of the '80s beds on it.
OK here is what I found,I was looking through my PB account, its not a Flareside But you get the idea.
I don't think I have ever seen a 80-86 Flareside,you know why,I NEVER look at them
