Just thought I would say HI! I just got my next project truck Sunday, let me know what you think. It's a 79 F-350 Super Cab Camper Special XLT Lariet. It needs some body work but runs and drives well. The PO put an aftermarket intake and a 4 barrel on it with headers. He also did and 4" skyjacker lift and 35" mud tires. The bed is shot but other then that seams to be in good shape. From what I'v been reading it sounds like this is a pretty rare truck. I can't wait to crack into it and get it back to it's former glory. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. Thanks

Welcome to the site.Very nice choice for ur prodject. How did u come by the truck.I and a few others consider the 79 350 SC as the rarest trk in our forum/trk made.Thers a lot of SCS members out there that will diagree with me though .You gotta post some trk **** aaahh sorry pics of ur trk.Just a side note.Your trks package is either a Ranger XLT or Ranger Lariat. They never did a XLT Lariat Regards
Good catch 78F250supercab! After some closer inspection the Lariat badges look to new. There is one on the glove box and one on the back of the drivers cowl but none on the passengers cowl. But both sides do say F350 Ranger and the glove box has Ranger XLT. So the fake badges will have to go. What are the major differances between the XLT and the Lariat??
As for how I got the truck it was a Ebay find. I was only the third bid. From what I read here I knew it was rare but not getting any bids worried me. But once I saw it I didn't care if it was rare on not I liked it and that's all that really matters! I'll work on getting some pics up as soon as I can. But my Jeep is in a show this weekend and then I'm going to be out of the country for two weeks so check back in about a month and I'll figure out how to get some pics on the forum. Then I'll start a build thread, stage one is just to get it legal then my plan is to do a rolling restoration from there.

U could always post the auction # for some of us to get a "taste" as to the packages diff. The XLT has wood inlet in the dr panels and a single color fabric seat aswell as diff badges. The headliner is color interior correct on a perforated board. The Lariat has 2 tone simulated leather inlet in the dr panels aswell as a 2 tone color seat that has simulated leather w/ raised vinyl diamonds. The headliner is also vinyl w/ raised vinyl diamonds.Lariats where also more likely to have more options. The Lariats had fancier chrome on the bodies and a real chromed out tailgate.(CHK my gallery last trks a 79 350 SC Lariat that I'm presently working on) Regards
Here is the auction number. Don't laugh to hard if you see the pics. I see her inner beauty!! 280242339328
Looks like you got a lot of trk to start with Just to make sure what u got there chk the wht tag above the drvr side dr striker bolt. There u'll find the trks VIN# if it starts with X36 it's a real f350 if it's X16 or X26 it's a rebadged 150 or 250.No laughing here man u'll find most members in here "see it AND get it" when the the friends and lil woman don't We all got the "3-9 fever"
Nice score on the super cab and welcome to the site. I have a '79 s/c f250, it has been a good truck and it has been alot of places, but w/ the growing family and the decrease of parking area at the homestead and I ventured into the the crew cab zone, my super cab will be on its way in the near future. Got to love the extra room behind the seat!! Good luck w/ yours!
Thanks lostinfords I can't wait to get the truck back on the road. I'v been driving it around my place my kids love it so that's cool.
I did check the VIN# and it is a F-350 with the factory 400 so I'm glad to see it wasn't a rebadged 250. Can any one tell me how to send a PM in this forum? I wanted to ask Jolly Green inspection and emissions questions but I can't figure out how to PM. Thanks
I think you can send those PM's by going into my profile, but a lot of other guys have been around the site longer than me, so maybe they could tell you an easier way to do it.
As far as inspection and emissions here in PA, as far as I know, my '79 is exempt state-wide due to age. Newer vehicles go by county. Some counties have emissions checks and some don't. Here in good old Clearfield County, where the men are men and the sheep are scared, we don't have emissions checks for anything, so I'm safe either way!
I bought my truck from a guy in Centre County, where emissions are checked, but it had an exempt sticker on it when I got it..and it did have current inspection when I bought it too.
So, just on the age thing, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you're in a non-emmissions county like me, you're definitely golden!
...one other thing. I think the rules on the age exemption up to a certain age only applied to 3/4 ton and above weight class, meaning a 79 F 150 might have to comply with emissions, but my 250 and your 350 are okay though.
I tell you that only incase you run into someone with a dent-side F100 and an emissions sticker, then start to worry!
I remember in the old days we had weight class stickers on PA trucks, but the state did away with them a while back.
