A/C clutch doesn't cycle off

The A/C compressor clutch on my '84 F150 (5.8L) does not cycle (turn off) ever since the system was recharged. A/C is a R134a retro and blows like the arctic, but it used to cycle approx every 8 secs prior to recharging. does this indicate a possible problem? Thanks in advance.

This is good! It was cycling way too frequently before, probably due to low charge. Ford systems often do not cycle at all if ambient temperatures are around 80 degrees F or higher. Below that, they usually they cycle roughly 3-4 times/minute but this is dependent again on ambient temperatures, condenser efficiency, and where you are checking cycle rates (in town driving vs highway). I converted a '91 to 134a and it cycles on the highway right on with the charts, however in slower city driving it rarely cycles. Take an old 12V bulb and hook the leads between the cycle switch and run it inside the cab where you can watch and time the cycles.
