Frame swap under way
Oil filter relocation: I did not want oil to leak all over the frame everything I changed it. The bracket sticks out just far enough so the oil will drain into a pan. The drain plug will be replaced with one that also permits me to hook up a drain hose and route it to a pan when changing. Really not needed, just a personal preference.
Progress has been slow. Waited almost 4 weeks for my intake gaskets and valley pan to arive. They arived and I now have the intake and carb bolted on for good (I hope). Got my wire set on this weekend. Compression seems to be a bit high. With the spark plugs in and everything bolted down, I am having trouble turning the engine by hand. Was going to jump the starter with a battery but it seems to have died since the last time I used it. I'll likely pull all the plugs so I can find TDC and get the distributor pointed in the right direction. Was going to go with a cold air intake, but then this B&M air cleaner popped up on E-bay. Its low profile and is out of the way of the HEI. Power steering pump on now. Had the pulley powder coated chrome. My fleebay pulleys had the wrong size fan pulley, so I'll be having that one powder coated also. Got the exhaust logs on also since the last update. The alternator on it is for mock up only. Have a 1 wire unit that should be here in another week. Installed a stock starter, hope it has the grunt to turn her over. Still have a long way to go but I'm taking it step by step. Heres some pics from today.

I have the back done. The front just doesn't seem the same when I measure. Now by the time it gets to the wheels everything is lined up again. The bar itself mounts about 6-8 inches prior to this so I think thats why I'm getting a 1 1/2 inch difference. Only thing I can figure is to mount some spacer to make up for this difference. Another guy said his mounted perfect. How about yours?
Daveengelson: Thanks for the comments. I'm always worried about stripping bolts so I was trying to avoid the breaker bar. I'll pull the plugs this week and that should give me a decrease in pressure. All my prior engines turned by hand with a 1/2 ratchet.

Brake lines...check. My original plastic hold down brackets were shot once removed. Found a guy on ebay that sells aftermarket plastic hold downs for $5 per sack with assorted sizes. Used exhisting holes and a bolt. Gas line is ran and bolted down.

I have axel under my leaf springs and a lot of traction bars are designed for flipped axels. Anyway, a guy on the late 70's forum sold me these. They were made by tuff country. Cleaned them up and hit with primer and paint. Used some heavy angle to make the front mount. Hope they work good.

When your wife and kids get tired of sitting on the back of your truck to simulate the bed you have to get creative. Aprox 50 gallons of water weighs 400lbs. +or-

Measured my axel and will be taking it in for shortening.

New body bushings are here. I'm getting close boys. Can't wait to get the body moved over and fire this bad boy up. Picked up a 73 or 74 automatic/power steering column from the scrap yard. Anyone from north central arkansas with a A-Frame drop me a line. I want to gently move the old metal to the new frame.
Thanks for looking at my junk.

Wanted bucket seats as previously stated. My 65 mustang buckets are now done and ready for their new home. For those considering this option, heres what I did. Bought a pair in horrible shape from fleebay. Tore them down to frames and had them blasted, painted them, ordered new foam, new covers, and had a local shop do the install. If you can find a set already redone and in good shape, go ahead and pay the extra money. Having your bench seat redone would be wayyyyyyyy cheaper, so you need to think about just how bad you want buckets.

I no longer will have a 6 cylinder so I picked up a new hood emblem.

This was my big swap weekend, hope it stops raining tomorrow. I know you guys will say, "you have a shop", but I didn't feel like pulling the new engine out in the pooring rain. If this continues I will be buying a tarp though. My second bay is taken up by my work bench, table saw, etc... Last weekend I at least got the bed pulled off.

Wish me luck as I continue to make headway.
i was thinking about drilling a hole in the bracket where the little nibs stick down off the mount, or grind them off.... Very nice job with everything so far.
Looks Like it's coming a long very Good ! those traction bars look like they will work well !
P.S. the Motor looks real ( COOL ) ! Keep the Pics coming !
