I hope I don't regret posting this but Ive had my 08 for over a year and put 11k on it with NO problems. Seems to be a pretty tough exterior, too. My truck has backed into 2 cars(once by me, once by the gf) hit a deer at 40mph, and has been backed into in a parking lot by someone, and Ill Ive got to show is a slight paint scuff on the front bumper.
Tylus, I agree with you 100% about Steelhorse08. Ive read just about all of his posts and he's always complaining about some problem that Im sure doesnt exist, or is so petty most of us wouldnt think twice about it. His posts are so difficult to read, too. Im still seeing stars trying to figure out his wheelbase being off center rant
My 08 just started makeing a noise from the dash or under hood now thats its cold, the sound starts at around 50mph kinda like when you blow across a thin piece of paper.Just starded doing it yesterday, check to see if there were any leaf's in the cowl under the hood but it was clean.....
well i'm extremely happy with my 08 larait screw 4x4, it's got a little over 6k on it, but i'm happy! i got about a year ago, traded my 04 screw 4x4 with about 97k in for it. i loved my old truck, it ran great! i can say the only problem i had was the plugs, but everybody know that 04's had that problem! but it only cost me an extra $75.00 (they broke 4) of them when i had them changed, i've heard of bad stories of people getting charged crazy money to get that fixed,so i was really happy! but over all i was happy with my 04 and i'm sure i'll be happy with my 08!
Oddly enough, I went the same route as SteelHorse when buying my truck. I traded in a 93 F-250 with the 7.3L diesel and an 8' bed, for my first truck, an 08 F-150 Scab 5.4
I did notice that the ride was much smoother and felt a little more "car-like" but I had to get used to the fact that I wasn't driving a giant monster anymore.
The truck did not feel as solid as my last one, but again, the last one was a monster of a truck. It felt heavy, it blew smoke, but everything worked.
My new truck has had a few issues, which need to get fixed. (For any witch hunters who might be following me, lol, I ended up canceling my app at the dealership. I was tired of their customer service and they had screwed up again. I'll be getting the TSB info soon though)
The issues as it stands so far are...
Windshield sprayer nozzle not working on drivers side
Drivers door sensor not noticing when door is open
howling/whistling from engine on cold start up (TSB issue)
Rear passenger door speaker not working
CD player starting to act up, but not enough for me to care.
Paint scratches/peeling (small spots, and will point it out when i drop the truck off)
Bed is actually out of alignment, but I don't care. You don't notice until you actually measure it. And it is only out by about 1/4" at most.
Even with these issues, I still love my truck. And once all the issues are fixed, I still love my truck.
And a fair word of advice and I think Tylus might have actually mentioned this to me.
Careful on replacing your foglight bulbs with a brighter set. Mine had been doing good for a while, until tonight I noticed that i had melted part of the lens.
The bulbs will work fine on their own, just make sure you keep the lenses clean. I let mine go dirty for the first time in 3 months and thats when they melted the lenses.
But I shall fix that on my own.
All I know is that if I was SteelHorse I would have quit complaining and dumped the truck a long time ago. And if you buy a Titan you will wish you had the F-150 back!

sorry to hear that. you are now the 4th or 5th person who has had this happen. so you think the dirt itself was the final factor?
I can see where that would reflect heat back into the fogs. did you ever do a touch test on the fogs with those Silverstars in there?
96sherm, No I don't have the TSB# or report yet. I was supposed to have gotten it, and will still get it as soon as possible.
Tylus, I touch tested those lights ALL THE TIME after you mentioned that they might melt.
After a month of touching them, and thinking that everything was good, I stopped.
Thats when winter came around and slush and dirt came with it. I always kept those lights clean until just a little while ago. Only when they got dirty, was when they melted.
So my answer would be yes. Dirty lenses is what caused the melting.
we've been following your posts for several months now.
anyways, I guess you're still convinced your truck is fubar'd even though nobody else is experienceing what you are describing. seems that you are unhappy about your apparent "bed misalignment", and you are now finding anything wrong with the truck you can. Why don't you post some pics of all this stuff you are describing. I cannot really understand anything you post. It's one big rambling story that takes huge leaps from subject to subject randomly.
oh and so we don't take over this thread, please post it in one of the numerous problem threads you've started.
Kudos my friend! He got flamed good and proper! I don't own an '04-'08 but I've been following along as well and the story never gets any better.
I say, sell the truck, trade the truck, burn the truck, stop whining about the truck.
What the hell do you expect to get from a 5,000 pound pickup truck with a huge air dam at the back of the bed (tailgate), a V8 engine and automatic transmission - 30 mpg?
I don't know anything about an '08, but I'm nuts about my '07 base model with V6/5-speed manual.
