Tire pressure ?

i went from factory Load star ST235/80R16D to E rated tires
Michelins 235-8516 XPS Ribs the Load star's had a pressure of 65#s the Michelin 80#s
TT weighs 7800#+ empty with a hitch weight of 1050#

the tag on the RV says tire pressue of 65#PSI but the new tires have max of 80#PSI i always thought you kept max pressure

any recommendations on running tire pressure at the higher # i just completed 3000 miles om the Michelins @ 80psi towed great just wondering after seeing other threads about higher pressure causing stiffer ride and causing problems long term
thanks<!-- / message -->

i wouldnt do 80, unless your very heavily loaded.
id think 65 would be plenty.

80 psi is for MAX weight load.

the rv says 65, since it came with d rated tires. which have a max of 65. BUT, it needed 65 to carry the weight. the E shouldnt need that.

also running just below max, will help prevent punctures.

but, really it all depends on the weight your carrying.

What he said plus if your tires are inflated above what is needed they will wear more rapidly in the center of the tread.

You should be running at vehicle placarded pressure, not the max listed on the sidewall of the tire.

I have the same situation with my trailer. It came with "d"s and I upgraded to "e"s. Here's what I do. I use the chalk method. Draw a line across the tire thread and then drive around on them to see where the chalk does and doesn't wear off. You'll want the wear pattern to be even across the tire thread that way you have even wear on your tires. Just adjust the tire pressure accordingly. Works for me.. Good Luck!
