Fuel Pump Question ?

I picked up a 1996 F-350 460 EFI, at a good price, Low mileage, but its been sitting for over 4 years the owner said, So I pulled the tank, found a few pin holes and a little rust. No fuel. The owner said he had just replaced the in-tank fuel pump 2 months before it was parked. I decided to replace the tank, easier then cleaning. I was wondering if there was anyway to checkout the fuel pump while its out. With out putting in back in the tank and hooking it up. I pulled the plugs on the motor and filled the cylinders with WD-40, let it set for 2 days then tuned it over without the plugs, Findly with new plugs in it I fired it and had it running for a few minutes by poring a small amount of fuel into the intake. Mostlikey I will install the new tank this week. But like to checkout the pump. Do you think Its good or how to check it out ? New ones are not cheap. Thanks !
