truck interior question
Below is a link to a pic of the interior of my 54 F100. From the research I've done, the best I can tell this is not original upholstery but it looks like it might have come from a little bit later model truck, maybe late 50's or early 60's. I'm trying to determine whether the stock seat has been recovered or perhaps the seat was replaced entirely with one from a later model vehicle. The door panels have the same pattern which would make me believe it might be original framework that has all been recovered. I thought some of you guys that have seen a lot more of these than I have might could shed some light on my question.

That is definitely not an original interior or original upholstery from any other vehicle. First of all, none of the 53-56s had upholstered door panels, all were painted metal. The fact that the material and pattern match the seats indicates to me it is a reupholstery job. I'm not sure how you can determine if it is a recovered stock seat without stripping all the upholstery off and comparing the dimensions and construction to a known OEM seat. One clue tho would be to remove the seat from the truck and look for modifications to the mounting system, i.e. redrilled mounts and/or seat/floor, handmade parts in the mounting arrangement. Modifications are a near sure sign the seat is not original.

It's probably the original seat that's been recovered. If you have a better side view of the arms from the back rest where it connects to the bottom, I'd be better able to answer. Door panels were an option, but they were just grained cardboard and not covered. The way the original seat bolts in was the track bolted to the floor and had a round rod that had gears on each end to control the track. The seat was bolted to the top of the track, with studs sticking out of the top of the track with 5/16 fine thread bolts (or studs) and had nuts holding the seat to the track.
I hope this helps!

The illustration below is from the 1954 Ford Truck Body, Trim, & Sealant manual. It shows the construction detail of the bench seat. You should be able to determine if your seat is original or not.
As Truxx mentioned, the door panels were optional. My '54 F100 has them, and they are cardboard with no fabric covering. I believe they came with the Deluxe cab option, which also included a driver's door keyhole. The Deluxe cab was indicated by the chrome hash marks on the grille, on either side of the V-8 (or star, if 6-cylinder). This drawing shows the panels:

Here's a couple more shots with better detail of the frame hardware and how it is attached.
You might know better but it looks to me like the seat could be original just recovered. The way the brackets are attached with a ubolt looks suspicious. However the bracket themselves look like they could be original as well, just modified. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Oops, did not insert the shot correctly. I'll try again. In case I mess this one up as well there are several interior shots in my gallery that might be helpful.
