Turbo
Hypermax is a none wastgated turbo and seems to be more limited in the maximum boost it can make. One guy here has it and can't put out more than 9 psi if I remember right.
Banks and ATS both use a wastegated turbo that spools faster and and at lower RPM. However if you were to adjust the wastegate or even disable it, WAY more boost can be made if your engine can handle it.
The advantage of a none wastegated turbo is slightly lower EGTs under heavy load, but not much else.
I have the older ATS 088 which is not wastegated like the hypermax and I can see 15 PSI if I turn the fuel screw all the way up, but 5 psi is the limit before I see the smoke start to roll on. Boost is at 9 psi right now where I have the fuel set.

I just recently purchased the banks 6 months ago and Like I posted before, Wow, what a difference. I copyed and pasted some of this from my previus post. It cost a bit more, but it came with intake, all turbo mounting hardware, complete magnaflow exhaust system and (for the auto) the transcommand.
Before the turbo, Going up hill and/or very stong head winds at 70 mph was almost full throttle sometimes, now I may give it a little over 1/4 throttle in any weather/road conditions. It works great!!! Im told it lowers your egts and I do get better fuel milage while under heavy loads. I bought the one at Bankspower.com. They have a whole page of info on it and it is JUST FOR THESE engines. It is already wastgated at 10-11psi so you will not overboost and it came with all the hardware needed to install it. I can get up to 11 psi boost with no smoke!!! I havent turned my fuel screw up yet but I might just to see how much more power I get.
For the banks turbo I got,
Less smoke, Lots more power (the equivelent of an UNMODIFIED 7.3 powerstorke up to 2003.)
Better acceleration at any speed (Makes passing much easier)
Pulls loads alot better with better mpg
Lower egts (if pump set to factory specs)
Quick spool turbo with wastgate already set at 10psi
Much bigger and complete exhaust system
Built spacificly for Our trucks.

Sure cause I asked the same question. It probably knocks off quite a bit of the price cause the exhaust was not cheap to ship cause it was like 85 lbs and 6 foot tall!!!
Banks Power | ’83-93 Ford 6.9 & 7.3L >> Sidewinder® Turbo System
Hears the link to the kit itself. The sight has chaged a little and became less descriptive. When I called I asked if I could leave a few Items off (i ended up getting the whole kit) and the guy said yes. I talked to a guy named mitch.
