was wondering if anybody here could give me a starting point on dealing with this truck. It is a 1967 f-100 4x4 long wheel base. Truck has the 390 engine,4 speed tranny, lock out hubs. It is not in bad shape body wise. Very little surface rust, although the tranny and transfer case do have a leak. I was looking for a good project and this one is not a bad start. Has the 9 inch rear, with dana 44 up front on the drive train. was wondering what tranfer case it is, maybe a 205? any in-put is very helpful, thanks in advance.
It's a Dana 21 single speed case, if it's still the stock one. If it's the stock engine it's a 352. Not bad truck, I have a 72 thats pretty much the same truck.
Great Truck - Of course I am a bit preferential. You can do about anything you want with them. I drive mine every day, rain, sun, snow, it gets me every where I want to go. That is as long as there is a gas station close!
how many miles, does it currently run...and stop. Hows the interior? What tires does it have? What works and what doesn't work. Whats missing? What trim level?

that is just about right, but also where do you live and how many of similar trucks are there around and how much are they going for?
well to answer some of the questions, the inside of the truck is a little dilapidated. no head liner, has gauges mounted under the dash, the glass is gone from in front of the speedo. has no arm rest on doors, but the interior light comes on when you open the doors. No front shocks, has a 3 inch body lift, and he is giving a 4 inch supen. lift with the truck. the gas tank has been removed and replaced with what looks like a boat tank in the bed of the truck. It does run good. I have him at 1400 right now. With this info, do you guys think I am in the ball park. This is my first project truck. thanks
well you know i dont know how much the 4 inch lift costs. but would you want a lift for it? if it comes with the lift for 1400 it could be ok price....but what type of lift is it and what does the lift come with? but i dont know what other kind of trucks go for in that area so......tell him to take 200 off because you ahve to take the body lift off cuz its not safe! but if it runs good and the whole drive train looks like it is in ok shape, it could be worth the money...but only if that is a comprable price to other trucks look around a little, there will aways be more trucks out there.
I paid $1650 for a 72 F250 4x4 back in april, its got a 390 or larger(still not sure)np 435,205 t-case,p/s,p/b,fuel tank where it belongs, i was told, and believe that the engine was rebuilt only a few miles ago..... With that in mind,id seriously think long and hard before i offered him over $1000 for this F100, Id be a little concerned with how a previous owner has "engineered" a few modifications,no front shocks, boat tank in bed,do you see a lot of baling wire and duct tape?
thanks guys, will do some looking. was not planning on jumping on it right off any ways. it just popped up in front of me and was looking for a project truck.
I paid $1000 for mine. Things I always check on these trucks are the Cab mounts (making sure they are solid), Radiator Support, Box, Door hinges (make sure they are not rusting off the cab), drive train (if its a 4X4 make sure it works), etc. Everything of course can be repaired but Mechanical is easier for me to fix so I always check the things I can't fix first.
