Well I read some posts about white smoke and I am stumped. My truck started out with itermitten smoke and then became constant. The smoke is deffently burning oil but I don't have any other problems with the truck. I have replced the turdo seals, the injector rings on one driver side of the engine and the valve seals on the same side. The smoke stopped for about 7 miles down the road and now it is blowing white smoke again. I am stumped, all gagues read good, no codes and no other signs of trouble. Any help would be great Thanks Brandon
what kind of air filter are you using if its a K&N you might have dirt in your engine and your cylender wall is scratched = screwed hope the problem isnt too bad
Well it is smoking all the time from just ideling to heavy throttle. No SES light on and the engine runs fine. Oil presure is fine and I dont see any noticable oil drop on the dip stick but the smoke deffently smells like burnign oil. I do have an after market filter but it is not K&N, its an S&B kit. The engine runs great and aside from the smoke screen coming out the tail pipe you would thenk nothing was wrong.
Remove the water cap and see if there is a residue on the inside of the cap. Do the same with the oil.
Do you mean the water cap on the radiator or the coolant over overflow bottle.
Also it does it smokes all the time regardless of when I fill the gas tank. The smoke started about three weeks ago and it started out intermitedly and over the course of about four days of normal driving it began to smoke heavily. The truck has not been off except for the ocasional trip dow a dirt road and I began to notice it shortly after I pulled a tree stump out with the truck.
Just went out and checked, and discovered no residue on the inside cap of the oil fill or the collant fill. I also found that when I checked the oil I could smell a burnt oil smell and the oil level was down to the add level.
You shouldn't have a cap on your radiator, i meant the one on the overflow bottle. Do it when its cold, Homer! D'oh
I checked the water cap and there was no residue. Im not sure why I thought I had a radiator cap....been looking at gas engines to much.
The oil was changed not to long ago and it with the right kind of oil. I have $1,500.00 in repairs on it so far and the problem is not fixed. Unfortunatly I may have to take it to the stealership, my last resort.
i still think you have a groove scratched on one of your cylender walls that might create the burnt oil smell and the oil level down to the add level hope it isnt that problem
It could be leaking turbo seals (turbo seals, not pedistal seal). Check for any play in turbo wheel. I would have guessed you are who ever changed you turbo pedestal seals would have mentioned the oil had he seen it in the exhaust housing. Look for signs of oil on your turbo housing, around EBPV and downpipe. In my case, when mine went out, I had oil dripping out of my exhaust.

The pedistal seals I changed not to long ago, but the internal turbo seals were the first thing we changed les then a week ago because that is what I thought the orgional problem was.
Then I began to think maybe it was the injector seals but so far and $1,500.00 dollars later still smoking. Maybe some how I sucked some dirt and did scratch the cylinder what other things could be tested to determine if it was infact a scratched cylinder wall.
