well i was towing my boat sunday in 120 settin and i was noticeing i was gettin pretty hot when i was merging on the freeway i would hit 1200 a few times i hit 1300 once... now my questoin is would the motor run at 1200 all day long right it would take 1250 to melt the motor..?? and spikes of 1300 is not going to hurt anything?? like i said before it tows alot better in 120 race the way it shifts is perfect i wish i i had a 80 race lol i also noticed when im in 80 it doesnt seem to get soo hott..??? would a 6.0 ic make a differnce??
i dont like my 60 tow its too slow no power and it revs too much and shifts too hard i have the 6637 i know i need a exhaust but some people say its not worth it??? i dont know
I would still lean towards the exhaust first. It made a difference in towing in the really big hills around here in Colorado. I bought my MBRP kit for about $325 shipped to my door with a nice 5" tip. Installed it myself in about 3 hours in my driveway.
yeah i know i gota save some money soo going to be a few months heh im tryiin to save for flordia again in december with diesel prices i sure hope gonna run me 700 JUST for diesel....
running your engine at 1200* for very long is a BAD idea! Do you have an aftermarket Valve Body? Your sig doesn't show it.....your shifting will be a LOT better with one, either a John Wood VB or a BTS VB. Do your truck a favor.....get the exhaust, and run in a TOW tune while towing, they are setup to get lower egt's. You don't need to go that fast if it'll cost ya $8 grand do ya?
Oh....forgot to mention, with pre-turbo egt numbers, you're only getting a reading from the manifold I'm assuming.....that is a reading from ONE side of the exhaust bank. Your other side could be 1350* and you wouldn't know it.......bye bye pistons and turbo! Towing in 60 tow will cure this.....and the 4" exhaust will also!
I am not sure if I read this right but some one told you exhaust isn't worth it
Do your truck one of the biggest favors ever and get one before you melt something.
1200* is to hot for an extended period of time. I would think that running a high egt for that long of a time period would due some type of damage to the pistons. Maybe not short term but long term.
well i was towing my boat sunday in 120 settin ...
How much does your boat weigh?

You need to listen to other people. Who ever told you this must run a gasser.

You would already know if you melted something. Remember to allow plenty of cool down time before shutting down the engine.
If you boat is heavy and you need more that the 60t, I would recommend towing it in the 80E. I use that to tow and no egt issues. Stay below that 1200 mark if possible.
well i dont know how much theboat weights im guessin around 6000 lbs maybe more but yeah it only spikes to that i seen 1250 at most i let off right away when i see that but i just heard you wouldnt get a benefit as long as you cut your muffler off .... now i belived it would make a diffence but anyways i havea shift kit put in my truck the truck usally stays around 800-900 on flats slight hills are 1000 to 1100 on the freeway my truck runs fine soo im guessing i didnt mess anything up i think img onna start towing back in 80 because it usally wont get that hot... i would NEVER leave my truck at 1200 i was just curious i think i want that mrbs dual kit 4 inch or what ever that kit is the superduty 4x4 put on his truck but i gotta wait till i save some money
