I just picked up a black 2003 Limited V10 w/ 86,xxx miles 2 weeks ago for $10,200. It needed front pads/rotors(which the guy gave to me he just never installed them) & there's play in the steering...I still need to fix that. The rest of the truck is solid & very clean! Best purchase I've made in a longtime
Ford554, do a search on here for how to adjust your steering box, and you should have that play out of there (Barring any worn out items) in about 5 minutes....
If they keep dropping in price, I might buy another to have as a spare

I already printed out the steering box fix Now I just need a few minutes to do it.
I am looking at an 01 diesel 4x4 with 118000. Super clean truck, asking price is $11,995. Is the Oasis report like a crafax? If so anyone mind looking this one up for me? 1FMSU43F31EC44956

OASIS is a report available to Ford dealers which will show the warranty repair history of a particular vehicle.
For the vehicle you are looking at it looks like this:
DOB 2/28/01 ISD 3/28/01
4 pages of warranty repairs...I'll hi-lite the major ones for you:
2/20/02 Replace PCM...Replace transmission 2/26/03 Replace transmission solenoid 3/3/03 R/I trans assembly...replace front pump and torque converter 8/16/04 Repalace LF wheel bearing hub assembly 12/6/04 Replace bth front upper and lower ball joints 8/23/05 More tranny issues...basically overhaul unit 10/12/05 Replace cam positioning sensor 1/28/08 Replaced cam positioning sensor with revised part
That's it...caveat emptor...let the buyer beware!!!
I just purchased 4 weeks ago a 2003 Excursion Eddie Bauer V10, 119,000 miles for $6900.00. I absolutely love the vehicle. I bought it at a dealer in Biloxi, MS and drove it home (Knoxville, Tn). I do have a few problems with vehicle and have put tires on the X, but love it more than any vehicle I have had.
I would call a taxi and get away from that Excursion as soon as possible!
Oasis report worth it's weight in gold in this case!
On the contrary; all the known problems with the transmission on the '01's seem to have been addressed on this particular truck, along with relatively-recent ball-joint replacement.
Thanks for the replys guys. I like the truck, but am trying to do the right thing and not get ripped off. Being that the problems seem to have been fixed, should I still run? THe dealer is offering an extended warranty, but I don't know the details of it. I will ask tomorrow. Because of the low price he has plenty of interest from other people, should I try to get him to lower the price with the extra info?

You've been around here longer than I have. And you probably know more about it than I do. If you think he's good to go, OK.
I went one full rotation & it's definitely better. I could probably go another half but I'm trying not to over do it.
Make sure you go lock-to-lock on the steering wheel and check for tightness. If it is still a little loose, try another 1/4 turn. You can back off if it gets too tight
