Hello,
The '65 power steering was a powered box, typically referred to as a Bendix box. Ford used this set-up until 68-69, when they went to a Ford box. They used the same Ford box thru 1979.
Hope this helps.

Eric,
The 65-69 Bendix box is the same for F-100 thru F-350 2wd. Most of the time it is a bolt in, due to the tolerances Ford built into the truck. However.... and I found the exception on the last Bendix conversion I did, The steering shaft was too long. Checking the parts book I found that the steering shaft on 65-66 P/S truck was about 5/8" shorter than the M/S shaft. I had another steering shaft I was able to shorten and install, then it was a bolt in.
Be sure to check pulley alignment between the crank pulley and the P/S pump. There are differences there also, but that is a story for another time.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a 390 sitting on the shelf that has the p/s pump on it. There is nothing wrong with my 352, but you can never have too many cubic inches, so I'll probubly swap that in when I find a steering box.
