Bike commuting

Good evening everyone. Hope all is well for everyone.
Earlier this year I decided to commute by bike to lose weight and get back in shape. So I do almost twenty miles a day.
By no means will I give up my '67 truck though it needs work.
Does anyone else bike?

hey snowyowl, good for you, be careful!!!!! i used to but my commute was into the ghetto, and i got tired of incidents...glass, guns, harrasement etc. we had a thread going on the subject last summer, it was really eye openning let me tell you!!!!! In fact it made me open up to the number of people how had no consideration, and or tolerance to us, and how they were all to willing to express it. so again, good luck, but practice constant vigilance. ya never know when some moron with an fte sticker will be the one to run you off the road! just for the record i still do a little recreational biking, road bikes, 2 Lemonds. later, Dan

HECK YES I DO!

2006 Specialized Allex Comp in Gerolsteiner colors.

Hand build fixie from a 70's Panasonic frame

The Spec is my main road bike, I ride it the 7 miles to campus when I commute under my own power. The fixie is for when I drive to campus, and still have a 1 mile trip to my classes. The fixie is my pride and joy, people comment on it whenever I ride it, it's pretty unique out here where very few people know about them.

I ride in Lubbock, Texas. Which is the most bicycle unfriendly town I've ever been too. I get run off the road, chased by dogs, pulled over by cops, yelled at by drivers, and once I even got chased by a campus bike cop ( I out ran him ). But I ride so I don't die of a heart attack at 22 years of age. I have the motorcycle now, but I still ride the bikes whenever I can. Gotta burn off the beer somehow...

Anyone see the Tour today? That hill at the finish made me want to throw up in my mouth.

I want to (a bike path goes right byu my warehouse ) but getting to it from my house is kinda hazardous. It would be an 8 mile trip each way....

My wife and I almost got ran over today trying to cross a street (with bikes) when we had the walk signal and some JO in a septic truck thinks he doesnt have to let pedestrians have the right of way when turning right......

It';s not the first time I almost got ran over there, So I'm thinking of riding a complete piece of crap up to the intersection and if someone decides to not give pedestrians the right of way, launching the bike out n front of em

been thinking about starting riding my bike myself, more for the exercise than to save gas cause I only live 1.5 miles from where i work. Only thing that scares me is i work in an industrial area and 3rd shift, not good lighting on the streets at night and at 7 in the morning when I get off work,I am kind of worried about the vehicle drivers that are half asleep, talking on their cell phone, drinking coffee, etc. all at the same time.

lotta nice bikes there, i wish all of ya the best of luck. I was able to deal with the self absorbed people, just anticipate that they are gonna do something dumb, and they wont let you down, but you will have survived. it was just those worthless waste of flesh populating our ghetto, that finally took it out of me. they weren't self absorbed in a unknowing way as most people are.... No they just believed they were entitled to rule the world and break any and all laws in whatever manner they deemed fit. between that and the purposeful harrassment they just finally broke me. take advantage of it while you still have the stomach for it, and like i said expect everything! good luck, Dan
