Performance mods
I guess I should have asked more specific questions on my "Hmmmm, what can I do?" thread. I would like to get a few more ponies, better fuel milage. What's the best tuner out there for the 6.0L. I have a DP Tuner in my wife's Excursion and love it. I noticed that Jody custom tunes the SCT Live Wire, but does not have a DP Tuner specially for the 6.0L. I did notice that a lot of 7.3L owners go with the 6.0L intercooler, so the intercooler must be sufficient. I just need some expert advise on the best performance mods for the 6.0L.

turbo back exhaust w/test pipe, gauges, and custom tuned SCT..that's about $1200- $1500 depending on the quality of the items you purchase..
depending on what model of truck you have, and the tunes you decide to run, this can get you between a mid 13 to mid 14 sec 1/4 mile truck..you can see a 2-3 mpg improvement if you take it easy on the throttle..
and i'm no expert...i just spend too much time on forums reading about these trucks..

Did you read my thread on "information for the new 6.0L owner"? I have an entire spreadsheet dedicated to mods. Send me your email address and it is yours. If you don't want to do that, search for posts by tex25025 and you will learn a TON.

idles the vehicle at 1200 r's when parked to help warm ups, keep the A/C colder, and alternater charging..
on your truck, it's a matter of cutting in a switch between two wires you already have under the dash..Excursion owners have it a little tougher..

First off how much of a budget do we have to work with? I ask that, because once you actually start all of this, it just keeps on building on itself and you won't be able to stop until you are in debtor's prison. There are also things that you can do that will improve longevity of your truck and not directly add to hp or mpg increase as well. Are we just looking for some extra hp and hopefully some mpg increase just for daily driving or is there going to be towing involved or other considerations? That will be good for starters.

you are just waiting for someone to come along with some deep deep pockets aren't you?
i don't blame ya....i think it's everyones dream to build a truck and not have to worry about the bank account plummeting! now if i could just find someone with those resources to say "hey, you're a nice guy. here's 50G's, do what you want with your truck." hhmmm what are the chances?
