The AMFMCD player sounded a lot better in my 05 after I went to the "Menu" and tweaked the controls. you can dial up the bass that helped a bit, without distortion. Also like that speed/volume setting.
Ok, I have a question what does the speed\volume control do ? Also what if I just swapped out speakers in my 05 F150? Would that help? Does anyone know if they are standard size speakers? If so What size? I have a 05 XLT Super cab, 4 doors but not the rear full size doors. I get confused on the diffrent models, Sorry.
To check to see if your Ford stereo speaker system is working properly, press the 3 and 6 presets simultaneously while the AM or FM radio is on. This will deploy the speaker walkaround test that's built into every Ford head unit.
Incidentally, it'll also tell you if you have a sub.
If you have a sub, as others have said, it will be under the left, rear seat in a Screw. I like my stereo. AM/FM/6 CD/Satellite/iPod Audiophile system. I like the sound, and don't try to "impress" the car next to me with my tunes. I mostly listen to CD's, but have recently paid Sirius for a lifetime subscription. Dunno'...guess I'm getting old.
My husband recently purchased our '05, choosing its interior pkg over an '06 that had the factory Audiophile sub that we really liked, assuming we could add it later. I'd like to surprise him with it for his birthday asap.
Any suggestions for finding one?
I'm a little concerned after reading posts from a thread last year: "audiophile sub help" (?)noting that their '05 didn't have wiring for the sub and they'd been quoted $1000 for that alone....
I've got the audiophile with the sub and after I changed out the headunit it sounds great. My friend with two 10's is jealous how clear mine sounds compared to his. I don't think you can add the sub after you buy the truck. You would be better off adding an aftermarket one.
