The family & I are in Houston for the weekend with the motorhome (NASA & some sightseeing b-4 going to brownsville for the rest of the vacation) the problem somewhere between Des Moines and Joplin where i finally slowed down the speed sensor went south on me. Below 35 mph it stops sending a signal to the trans computer and speedo stops working also till above 35 or so. I can pick up a sensor at any of the many of Ford houses I passed coming to the campground if there open tommrow but I don't know the size of the bolt holding it in place? can anyone of you guys help me with what size it is? Yep I am one of those guys that only take enough tools to change a tire or hose.
Any of you gurus please chime in here
Oh Yea its a 1994 E-350 chassis sensor is on top of the diff
Thanks for the welcome, & No not tough Joe just goofy :-) Last years trip to lake Havasu was just to darn hot, it's not to bad here at all....Yet!
Decided not to go to my brothers in CA this year diesel just to expensive the Houston / Brownsville loop then back to IA is my effort to conserve fuel.
Just got back to the campground from the Kemha board walk That place is rockin!!! but with the kids we thought it was time to go but at least I am catching the end of the nascar race! OH S&%T 38 hit the wall gotta go
yup 10 mm. Can get sensor at autozone also.
I pulled it out in parking lot. Autozone tried to sell me wrong one. Nice to have part in hand to plop on counter. "I need one like this" .
Same problem you had. But soon developed into much worse. Stops reading all together and won't shift out of 1st. I had 92 e350 chassis. MH. Say $30? Don't remember.
I-95 15MPH because of a $30 dollar part. That sucked. And was scarry.
Got the sensor @ Champion Ford yesterday, Dan you nailed the price. Found a Sears ( BTW The new Garmin Nuvi Is Cool for finding stuff like that) Got the 10MM But underside of the M/H A bit hot to install, Will do it this morning B-4 we pull out.

Let us know how you made out. Mine acted up even with a new one. I had to modify my sensor to extend a tad deeper. I found the clearance on the extreme and when it was cold it would screw up. When the DIF heated up it would work fine. Had to drive around town to heat up the diff to get my speedo working and my tranny shifting normally. Then i would hit the thruway. When i got home i measured everything and found the clearance problem. I had to dremal the sensor mount about .015" To protrude a little deaper to be in gap range once installed. I forget the gab dimension. It was a few years back. Grinding the top of the dif would be a pain the **** not to mention debris going inside. Easier to modify the sensor. I hope this isn't the case with yours. I hope just popping in a new one will fix your problem. Not much you can do while traveling.
Fortunately for me the guy at the Ford house got me the correct one I think.......Speedo seemes to work fine but it must have set a hard code in the trans computer O.D. light is flashing trans temp is fine & it shifts ok but if I mash the throttel hard it bangs kinda hard on the shifts must be in fail safe and set the line pressure up all the way. With no scanner I cant check it so I will disconnect the bats for a day and see what it does. Gotta go my drink is empty!!!!!!
