Back from another family camping trip and as usual not even a hiccup from the old 99'.
Averaged 9-11mpg with the winds pulling the 26 foot trailer.
I am going to be pulling my FJ40 on my 18' flat deck to S.D in two weeks and then another camping trip up north with the travel trailer.
Might be time for another $20 oil change after that.
Its stuff like this that reinforces my decision to buy the gasser. I don't even miss the 6.0 anymore. This truck has been outstanding as far as reliability goes.
I am also on the road towing a 31 ft. 5th wheeler (loaded trailer approx. 11K lbs.) . We travelled the lowlands of FL ,GA and SC getting 10 mpg (@55-57 mph speed & new air filter) . Yesterday we climbed some mountains around Asheville, NC area getting a surprising 9.3 mpg . I was down to 3rd gear of my ZF 6-spd manual between Spartansburg and Hendersonville, NC , but I passed several 18-wheelers on that stretch .
Happy 4th of July to everybody.
10 mpg pulling that kind of load is deffinetly a good thing I get about 9 mpg towing a 8,000 lbs load but that is with an auto tranny and 3.73 gears doing about 65-70
I only go 60mph (100kmh).
Fuel is $6.45 a gallon here.
The truck has an auto with 4.30's.
Soon it will be towing this again. I alwaye get better milage towing the FJ40 even though its heavier.
