My EX worked very hard for me the first five years I had it. Pulling a 4000lb cargo trailer on to different construction sites everyday, then for hauling my four kids on the weekends. Never let me down except for CPS. I retired it last fall to the garage and it became our weekend/errand truck. I am down to one kid at home and don't really need it any more. But the market for big trucks is pretty bad around here. I doubt if could get near bluebook for it. I'm not going to give it away. Worked to hard to pay for it. It's been paid for and still is in great shape all around. I really want a new Mustang GT. But may be waiting awhile.
I suppose I could sell the 33 ft TT and the X, then just sit on my duff at home and go no where... NOT!
Sure gas is high right now... but I believe that it will return to some 'normalcy'. Will it ever be less then $1? Probably not. How about less then $2? It's possible, but I doubt it. Less then $3? Yes, I believe that is highly possible. When will it happen? Now that, my friend, is the big question... I just hope I can survive until it does.
Something tells me you'd sooner starve than sell your toys, Mark...but if starving beats going nowhere, I hope you starve soon!

Anyone who can't absorb the 30-40% increase in gas in the past year to run their toys, or their work truck, or their recreational vehicle, or their commuter car, well... I think someone should give up their cable TV w/premium channels, cut their beer budget, or something else too...
No I wouldn't starve, but krewat is right, there are a lot of other things that I can give up first.
But the X really isn't 'my toy', it's a family toy. In fact, my wifes drives it more than I. I drive our 01 Accord back and forth to work... she's a stay at home mom, so she uses the X for the little running around she does.

Many people have done everything you mention..... and more. And I am not just talking about gas guzzling SUV owners.
People nationwide are lowering their standard of living in order to afford vehicle fuel, home heating costs, and all prices affected by the fuel increase.
All so somebody overseas can buy another 6 Mercedes, a few Ferraris and an Aston Martin. Don't ever assume those people aren't laughing all the way to the bank.
And of course the people here at home in the USA playing the oil futures. They are laughing all the way to the bank too.
