I just picked up an 08 Lariat bumper which has the reverse detector option but they removed the sensors to use in an aftermarket bumper leaving the holes.. My truck is a 99 and does not have the rev detection, what can I do here:
(1) Find some blank plugs (what size and where to buy)??
(2) Buy some new sensors to place in the holes (again where to buy)?
(3) Wire in the reverse system on my truck (Does anyone know how or where to obtain this info?
Personally, I don't like the option...mine goes off if a bird farts near it. You can't even leave a hitch in the receiver without it tripping the damn thing. When I asked the dealer about possibly lowering the sensativity on it, he told me to take my hitch out...*****. Finding plugs may be a pain but probably the best choice economically.
I dont have that problem with the hitch. Mine is even a weight distribution hitch so its fairly bulky. I have kids so I love the option. Cant tell you how many bikes and skateboards I have saved in the last couple years. I dont know what would be involved in doing an OEM install but I would think an aftermarket version would be simple and you could probably use factory sensors adapted to the aftermarket controller (Im assuming). Unless its a black bumper I think rubber plugs are going to stand out too much as a cheap fix.

Hey thanks guys I looked up aftermarket systems and they look just like what I need plus they are cheep! They look very easy to install, I have e-mailed the company to see if their sensors will plug into the factory holes.. If they will that will be nice! But if not I'll modify it to fit.. Another thing is the controller sensitivity is adjustable. I plan to get one and I'll let you guys know how it is.
