Question Two different tire sizes

Is it ok to run 31x11.50R15 in the front and 33x13.50R15 in the rear? I'm asking because a tech ( not saying where ) told me that I couldnt run all 33's ( like I planed to) with a 3" body and a 2" suspension lift, is that true?

I also asked if the 2" difference would look weird and he said that it will not and alot of truck tires they install have 2 different sizes mounted on the truck,

I find it hard to believe you couldn't fit 33's with 5" of lift. If your truck is 2wd, those 2 different sizes will look fine. I used to run those sizes on a 2wd 95 F-150. A friend of mine also used those sizes on a 2wd 76 shortbox chevy. The difference is noticeable but not great enough to look out of place. It kind of gives you an old muscle car look, skinnies in the front, fatties in the rear.

The truck used to be 2wd...Its been 4wd for 4years now. Yeah They told me that there would be alot of rub if I would put 33's up front. Hey I think a FlareSide would look sweet with a meaty muscle car look

Did the tech know it had been converted to 4wd? Unless you plan to convert it back to 2wd, you need to run the same size tires all the way around.

Yes the tech did know that I converted the truck to 4wd. I still have all the parts from the swap in my storage. And If I have to I think it would be cheaper to switch them out rather than paying for a new suspension lift.

Just wondering why I cant run 2 different sizes on a 4wd

In a traditional part-time 4wd system, the 4H and 4L positions lock the front and rear driveshafts together at the transfer case so they have to spin at the same RPM. With different sized tires, the front and rear have to spin at different RPM. This means that, at best, in 4H or 4L, the front and rear will be fighting with each other to propel the truck. At worst, you'll start breaking things.

The only way to run 2 different sizes on a 4wd is to have different gear ratios in each axle...or you can just remove the front driveshaft. You should be able to clear 33's just fine with 5" of lift then, stock 4wd trucks clear 32's. Rubbing issues would arise depending on the width of your rims and the backspacing they have. If they stick out too far you rub the body, in too far and you rub the chassis.
