Dash removal
In the meantime while poking around....
I removed the blower from its housing...took the blower cage off the motor and power washed it...what the heck right? I also removed the mouse nest that was next to the heater coil (or was that the AC coil?) and vacuumed all that out.
Put it back together...and blows pretty decently...I think I will be back in there again power washing out the coil as I think there should be a lot more air flow.
OK...so I am peeking into the air vents (not that my A/C is working (another project) but noticed there are mud dauber hornet nests built inside my air vents. They are not active...but would still like to clean them out.
I looked at a lot of places and even went to LMC truck (cause they have really nice illustrations) and can find no ductwork pictures.
Do they exist? Are the good diagrams...or is this just open the dash and hope you do not break some little plastic thing that can't be replaced?
Is there a good dash removal picture set, or a diagram...or something...jst don't want to screw up my new old first Ford.

12 screws hold the pad on.
8 on the front. 3 for the instrument cluster bezel, two for the radio bezel, and three above the glove box and a/c registers.
Then there are four screws near the windshield sort of inside the defroster opening. Then you should be able to lift the pad off and look underneath at the duct work.
Also you have fresh air ducting under the cowl on the cab, and behind the kick panels. Remove the kick panels, two screws and two push pins hold the kick panel on.
On A/C models you will notice a aluminum or steel sheet inspection cover, (on non a/c models this is where the fresh air floor vents are located.) Remove the cover and you can stick your arm or a shop vac hose down inside and clean all the crap that is at the bottom that's accumulated throughout the years. Very comon problem for 1980-1986 trucks.
How the heck does one get that big passenger side duct out./ I think something is blocking my blend valve...l can only go 2/3 of the way to HOT.
Sur wish I could get a nice drawing...Neither Chilton nor Haynes cover these to any decent detail.

The dash moved nicely out of the way and out came the plenm, then I took out the defroster duct as well. While washing these out I olso found the mouse that had built the mouse house next to the heater core. Well...I at least found the skeleton. He has long been dead.
Also got the fist sized mud dauber's nest out and not my blender doors and heater door operate smoothly....going to clean out the rest of the dash and reinstall.
Also broke a tab off of the defroster duct. Dang...off to Autozone to get some JB weld.
