The MBRP system is way too big for the V10, its a 4" system. If you want something that sounds good on the V10 look at the Flowmaster Force 2 cat-back. Heres what I have on my truck. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-fm70-mod.html
Depends on what you are looking for. Do you just want something that sounds cool? I have the Banks system, and although it is $$$$, I think it is worth it. If I had it to do over again, I would. The headers are top of the line, the Y-Pipe is great for flow and the muffler sounds really good, imo. The V-10 is never going to sound like a V-8 no matter what you do. It's just a different sounding engine, and I love the way she sounds.
i like my FM sound. "MOST" V-10 owners/builders will say that a baffle style muffler has the best sound on a V10 through out the rpm band. as far a LOUD, i've never had a MBRP, but as for just hearing one, i think the FM sounds better. Gibson has a good sound as well, my vote is is still for a FM set up. if you don't want real loud, go for a 70 or 50 series set up for a good deep tone!!
If you are wanting to get any type of single 3" cat-back and your existing exhaust is good, just replace the muffler. You already have a mandrel bent 3" cat-back system from the factory. Just buy a good muffler otherwise you're replacing the pipe with a basically identical pipe.
Here is a bit to chew on guys. The more cylinders an engine has, the higher the pitch of the exhaust. Ever hear a Harley-Davidson V-twin whine like a Formula 1 V-12? No, they have a deep rumble, or pop, if you will. As for the noise, don't go too wild as you will probably hate your choice if the truck is a daily driver or if the wife likes it Town Car quiet. I put an MBRP 4" dual kit on my '01 and it sounds OK (more of a howl than a rumble), but lots of resonance in the cab. Thank God I'm single. I wouldn't do this one again. Try the 3" Flowmaster kit or something like that.
Exhaust note in one of the few "not so goods" in a V10 engine configuration. They just never sound "awesome". At 19,000 rpm (think back to F1 a couple years ago) they sound outrageous, like a herd of hysterical steroidally supercharged banshees tweaked out on meth... but still not "good".
