P0153 Error code

P0153 Error code

Have 1997 Ranger 3.0 keep getting P0153 code. I have replaced the H02 senors but still getting same error code

The code is for the left bank upstream 02. This is a slow responce code. Can be due to air leaks on the exhaust, fuel or air issue on the left bank, heater circuit problem for the 02. Check for an exhaust leak, check the maf sensor (although this usually sets lean codes) for contamination, I would also check the wiring to the 02 and see if all wires check good. Hope this helps.

I replaced the HO2 sensor on the passagnger side, before the catalytic converter. Is this the location for HO2-21?

P0153 is upstream drivers side.

Slow response code means the sensors is just shot, not from air leaks or anything. I have never seen and O2 sensor set a code for slow response and end up having another problem elsewhere. I have seen lean or rich codes be caused by other problems, but never slow response. Those sensors should be replaced every 100,000 miles or so.
