Seems to me like to put it in the up-pipes you would have to weld a bung in to have any threads, are you guys clamping it in the up-pipes? Doesn't seem like it would be very secure just threaded in the thin wall.

Since the OP is doing up pipes anyways, he may as well wait and drill/tap the up pipe on the bench unless he's in a big hurry to get the pyro working. As for you big poppa pump, pick your favorite spot and do as I or Joe said- just drill and tap, don't worry about the shavings. I didn't use any grease or oil on the tap when I did mine. The up pipe will probably be a lot easier to drill for you than the manifold.
Thanks Chase will do, but should i spend the extra money and get the weather resistant probes and connectors, going to pull the plug and order these gauges VERY soon, thanks. Sorry for the hi-jack.

Mine is clamped in to the up-pipe and hasn't moved in two and a half years. Used the provided worm-gear hose clamp so no threads to cut in the up-pipe.

Looks great, you did a good job. I also have mine it the up-pipe, close to the manifold.

I always wondered where HERBIE went.

My truck had a clamp in probe in the up pipe when I bought it but no gauge- I just pulled it out and drilled/tapped the old hole, the pyro probe fitting threaded in tight and I don't think it will go anywhere.
Mike- the kit I bought has the weatherpack connectors for the pyro (I bought a new unused kit from another member here and got a great deal). Even if I had gone new, I would have gone with the weatherpack connectors, but that's me.

I was considering welding a bung in mine but tried it without it first just to see. This is where it was installed and is to this day several years later. Check out my lame gallery for some gauge install stuff. I need to update that thing.

Mine looks almost identical to Mike's... no worries yet but mine hasn't been in for too long.
