Miss under acceleration?
Ok, here is the problem. The truck will start and idle fine and the engine will rev without a load no problem. the problem is under load the engine will cut out then go back to running repeatedly. Just like someone was flipping a switch on and off. It is driving me crazy. Would this be related to the tach not working correctly? The tach will work at high RPM but not at idle or low RPM. Sounds like a fuel starvation problem. Unless recently changed fit a new fuel filter. Check condition of the fuel line from the lift pump back to the tank. Try running it with the fuel filler cap slightly loose, you may have a blocked tank vent.

Tach has nothing to do with the engine running.
Dirty fuel filter would be my first guess, has it been changed recently?
Second guess would be a bad lift pump, you should have about 5 to 7 PSI with the engine running at the schrader valve on the fuel filter header.
