My tach was not registering engine rpm at idle....but would work properly when I got on the throttle. With the help of you guys I narrowed the problem down to the tach sensor. The truck shifted nicely during the sensor's irratic behavior.
Thursday I purchased and installed a new tach sensor which restored the tach to proper operation......but now my truck shifts like I'm getting rear-ended by a HumVee when the truck shifts from first to second gear. The third to fourth gear shift isn't too bad. If I'm HARD on the throttle it shifts like before the tach sensor swap. Light on the throttle slams the transmission hard.
