Hey guys ... i ordered brand new injectors made by delphi and a return line kit ....
Is there anything i need to know or be warned about befor i do this ? It looks like a simple job is there any tips or tricks?

Is there anything i can do besides pulling the motor apart or doing a turbo for a little more power? like flip the air cleaner lid... im looking for some Free mods... any tips ?
The injectors a pretty straigt for ward just make sure you get all the carbon out of the injector bore and put anti seez on the threads.
You could cut the soup bould looking deal out of your air cleaner. fliping the lid is a waste of time and would probly hurt power if anyting. If you have a pyrometer you could turn up the fule a bit or advance the timing. The only real way to get a dicent gain is with a turbo.
I did a good cleaning of my engine before I did mine...was worried aboud crud falling into the cylinders or messin up the threads...pretty easy job, use never-seize and 33 f/lbs of torque as per my manual. DPS makes a stage 1injector for the idi thats worth some hp...turning the fule up is another way but it requires a pyrometer to make sure you don't over fuel the engine and melt your pistons.
well i was going to use a few cans of break parts cleaner and a power washer lightly and then use my shop vac... then use more break parts cleaner since its drys stuff so fast...
I thought i would need to worrie about air in the lines and stuff like this ?
If you have a power washer at the house, while the engine is cold spray it down with degreaser, let it soak for a few minutes then wash it good with the power washer.
If you remove the air filter before you wash it, seal the intake opening before you wash the engine.
Never spray water on a hot engine, or you will probable kill the IP.
I'm headed towards the same work and have a couple specific questions. Not trying to raid the thread here but I'm guessing that Rollinunknown will get to a similar point.
The injectors come with the nice new copper crush washers that will fall off as soon as the injector is held vertical. What's a good trick for keeping it in place on the nose of the injector while installing the injector into the head?
Whats the prefered method for cleaning the injector seat? I'm guessing that they get pretty crudded up as the old injectors performance begins to fall off so I'm assuming that a good cleaning would be in order. George D. mentions cleaning the bore, some specific technique or tooling suggestions would be helpfull
shouldnt need to worry about air too much...might run rough for a couple of mins then should clear itself up...atleast mine did.I did read somware that you should remove the whole injector line and not too bend it out of the way but it seemed silly as it's a pita, I bent mine and then bent them back, I was just really carefull not to kink the line and didn't bend it more than I needed. I guess if you removed the whole line air might be more of a problem. I used a dab of grease to keep the new washers in place while installing, and didn't clean the seat just looked at it to make sure nothing was in the way.
I use a injector bore brush it has a tip made so it gets down in there really well and seems to work better then the pipe brush I used the first time.
New injectors useualy come with the coppers already on them held in place with some thing. When I'm putting old ones in or have to put the copers on I use a dab of greas to hold them.
I useualy do one side then fire it and get the air out then do the other side. this way it fires right up on four cylinders and uses the engine to blead the litle bit of air out instead of the starter.
