my sons 2001 mustang 4.6l 5 speed manual! has the muffler delete!im looking to get more power out of this car! any ideas without breaking the pocket book!
Get the C&L intake and bama engine programer combo, it's good for around 30 hp, thats a good bump for the price. The mod 4.6 also loves gear, throw a set of 4:10's or 4:30's at it and it will feel like 30 more hp. They can also benifit from an aluminum drive shaft to reduce rotating weight. I have the 3 valve 4.6 in my 07 and it's fast right out of the box. So far, I've installed a hurst shifter and a set of 4:30 gears, next will be bama and intake, but "yeah", there no cheap mods for the 4.6. Going to synthetic fluids and udp's is about the cheapest things you can do. Gears aren't that expensive, but having them installed can run up the bill. I bought ford racing gears for around 180.00 bucks, but it cost 250.00 to have them put in. However, it was well worth it, the thing launches like a rocket. Lets face it, speed cost money, you can go as fast as you can aford to go.

I'm a Mustang 5.0 fan myself. This is the kind of combination the Modular 4.6L needs.
It's a different animal than the push rod V8's.
They aren't much for punch off the line, once they get into their powerband they take off.
