I am going to put the badging back on my truck. I have nice refurbished badges that look great, but, where do i get the replacement parts to attach these. I guess they would be called keepers, and are they rubber or somthing? any help would be appreciated.
Sorry for saying they were just metal. The ones I got from NAPA were just metal. Does the rubber do anything in particular over just metal ones?
Keeps the badges from Rattleing. It cusions and you get a more snug fit. There is less likely to be damage caused to the surrounding paint do to rattles. Etc...
Another couple little tip that I can give you, as I just installed them on Buford, is that you can use black strip caulk to help seal things up. One of the holes had too much paint in it, and I had to use a little screwdriver to scrape the inside of the hole enough to make the part fit. Knowing that these can not only rattle, but they can also be susceptible to moisture, I decided to do this on all the holes.
You just use a tiny amount and put it around the insert, and press them into the holes for a weatherproof seal. Then you can press the badges into the inserts, and you're done.
Learned that little trick from the guys at the bodyshop.
thank you guys. I ordered new rubber keepers from the bronco graveyard and i will also do the weatherproof seal just to make sure they are good to go. Thanks again!!! -
