Another question about stacks..

Well Im getting some 6in stacks soon, Will aka STROKIN'IT7.3 is getting me some used ones for a good price. So send him some reps you guys, hes keeping true to the brotherhood we have goin on here.

And then I just bought a Harley today (thats what the "little thing" was Rick lol)
Harley-Davidson® 2005 FXDWG/FXDWGI Dyna Wide Glide®

The pic on the site is just the stock one, mines got some python pipes, which are suposed to be the loudest there is , a windshield ( which will be coming off ASAP) and some chrome added here and there. Its a nice color, and looks TONS better in person. I didnt pay as much as is listed on the site, but what I paid is a secret

BUT heres the question how hott does the pipe in the bed get? can the front tire or the bike press against it with out melting the tire? I think the covers for them prevent me from using the front tie down points in the bed

Good deal Chris. I think that in my shop I have a bracket that you can bolt down to your bed that you can tie the bike down to. If you want i'll see if it's there and take a pic. If you want it I'll send it out to you.

Im not looking to get anything perminant (spelling) in the bed at this point in time other than the stacks. But thanks for the offer, Id rep ya if I could lol You have/had a bike Jim?

And I will get pics up as soon as I pick up the bike after inspection and everything is done.

I've had some stuff slid into my bed up against the "Y" pipe .. the only thing that got hot enough to deform was some plastic (handle of a push broom and some foam insulation) .. so I would not let a tire sit against it for a long time... could melt it a little bit

i have had a few things melt by my stacks like cups, rags, and my golf shoes. personally, i would not take a chance on puting your motorcycle tire near the stacks. the last thing you want is while your riding it for your tire to blow due to a breakdown in the composition from the heat of your stacks. just my .02

build a cage with diamond plate to go around the y pipe and the pipes leading to the stacks...then you should fine...i dont think the heat will hurt it..but the Hot pipes will...or set the stacks more center of the 2 out side rear window so you can put the bikes front tire in the front corner of the bad.....

Nice Chris. I would call that more then a (little thing). lol Good for you and have fun. Be careful on that thing, most people don't look for bikes going down the road. Thats why I gave it up years ago, had too many close calls, and one wreck.

I've seen someone make a nice piece out of diamond plating to go around the pipes in the bed...I've melted all sorts of crap on my pipes so far...the latest mess was 10 quarts of tranny fluid when my plastic bin melted around it...mine gets pretty hot and If I were you I wouldn't rest my tire right up against it...like i said maybe if you got that diamond plating it wouldn't be that bad...Good luck!

First was a Honda 350, then Honda 500, then Honda 650, then Honda 1100.

I gave it up in the mid 80's. I got run off the road and flipped the 500, by a Harley rider. He stoped and took care of everything, but said he can't believe he didn't see me.
