Howdy!
I just got myself a 1973 F100 shorty 2 wheel with a 360 (87K), 4 spd. I live in Denver (now) and the body and undercarriage are pretty much flawless.
The motor runs rough and leaks oil though. I found a few bolts on the oil pan that were only finger tight. Even after tightening them, there is still a leak that appears to come from the rear of the motor somewhere. Any advice?
Eventually, I'd like to put in a smaller, more fuel efficient motor so any advice on that would be appreciated too.
Thanks in advance!
I'll go out and take a picture or two and post them soon.
I think it is your valve cover gaskets leaking at the rear, and running down
the back of the motor. If not that then back gasket of intake,or rear main
seal!

Reason: adding info
I don't drive 90 and I didn't see much of a difference between dual exhaust and manifolds versus dual exhaust and headers honestly. Around town 9 mpg is about what I get.
No I get a little better on the highway, but most of my driving in the past few years. I did get ok mileage when I did an hour long trip on highway loaded down with a jetski in the bed. I'm not too concerned personally with having a gas friendly car honestly, but personally I think I'd give up my 302 for a 6. I do like the sound of the 302 when I get on it though
