does anyone have a picture? Is this a 'bar' that runs parallel to the frame towards the rear? Don't have one on my truck.. maybe I could just fab one based on a picture.. thanks
Is your brace riveted to the frame? that would certainly indicate it's factory if it is.
My brace is attached to 2 brackets, one on each end. The transfer case end, is attached to a bracket that is bolted to the bottom of the transfer case. The other end is attached to a bracket that is bolted to a crossmember between the frame rails. I can't swear it came like that from the factory, but I can say that neither bracket looks home made.

At least you have a brace, a brace is a brace, not that it matters but i'm pretty darn certain the braces that came factory had the bracket riveted to the crossmember, i know some guys retrofit a brace and bolt that bracket to the crossmember, i'd still like to know why i see these braces on EVERY automatic highboy and only a very few of the manual highboys, it the guys with braces on their manual highboys would chime in and say if that bracket is bolted or riveted to the crossmember it would be interesting to see.

I just looked at the link with the red hi-boy, and my transfer case bracket is exactly the same as the one in that picture. The picture doesn't show the crossmember bracket, but mine is definately bolted onto the crossmember. It's feasable that a prior owner of my truck, grafted a factory bracket onto my truck using bolts?

Speedshifter says his manual highboy bracket is riveted to the crossmember, so that would indicate a factory install, maybe they were standard equipment on automatic highboys and were an option on manual highboys? i dunno?
