Paint code "6M" 1979 F250

I'm looking to find the original color of my 1979 F250. The paint code is "6M". Any takers? Is there a place where I can look up paint codes? I tried searching the site but came up empty-handed.

NOTE:

You cannot rely on a 1973, 1974. 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 brochure to ID colors on a 1979 vehicle!

Ford changed these Paint codes every year on some colors, as you can see.

F100/350

6 = 1973 = Bright Medium Blue

6 = 1974/75 = Viking Red

6 = 1976/77 = Dark Brown

6 = 1978/79 Yellow

There is one H paint code for 1977/78, another for 1979

The paint is not the same exact color.

H = 1977/78 Dark Brown Metallic ~ Ford paint part number: 5282

H = 1979 = Dark Brown Metallic ~ Ford paint part number: 5477

Wimbledon White is Paint code M, not Paint code H!

Ford began using Wimbledon White in 1964, and used Paint code M thru 1979.

good info ND, thank you.... so my truck was two-tone yellow and dark brown metallic? That doesn't seem right, that's quite an ugly combo!

That may not seem right, but if you have a 1979 and the code is 6H, it is right.

That was a popular color combo back then, it was also available for Econolines & Bronco's.

In 1962/64 Ford offered a color called Rose Beige on several models. It was popular then, but today many ppl repaint cars that were this color, because Rose Beige is what Ford called Pink!

What's in style today, prolly won't be popular in the near feature, either.

My how times change huh? I don't think I'll be taking this one back to the original color, the yellow and white on it now I think is a much better combo Thanks again ND, you provided exactly what I was looking for.
