Hi, can anyone help me with some problems on my F150 4 door?
The power windows, interior lights and running boards and wipers are out. I have checked the GEM because of the water leaking, and the SOB is dry, no shorts, no nothing, it looks like new.
Can this SOB get damaged by itself?
I have also checked all of the relays related and they are good.
Do I need to replace my GEM? Has anybody replced it with out looking damaged? I would not like to spend alot of money on it to have it give me the same problems again.
Can you buy it on a junkyard from a similar truck and just replace it?
Does it need to be bought new and then reprogrammed at the dealer?
The way that the GEM controls the many things that it controls, is by completing the ground for the circuit. The ground for the GEM is in the drivers footwell, under the kick panel. It will be at the bottom of the A-pillar panel and the wire color is BK/LB. Good luck!
Thnaks man, I have tried that when I took the GEM off, I took the ground wire off and place it back in, it has 2 wires each with an eyelet that get secured onto the sheet metal.
When I was trying to remove it, it was giving out little sparks, a good sign of ground contact.
Do you think I would need to replace the GEM?
I will try also to bring a gorund wire directly from the battery and connect it to the ground for the GEM, just to make sure.
I checked the fuse panel and the connection between the GEM and fuse panel, there are no signs of corrosion or running water marks at all. The GEM looks brand new.
What else do you think I can try and fix, i have not have the time to reconnect the ground wire directly onto the battery yet.
