Where is the cruise control amplifier located on an 85 F-150? The Chilton manual just says "behind the instrument panel". No pic or further description.
Just looking up from the bottom of the dash I see a "black box" with 2 wires going into the top of it located just between the steering column and the wiper switch.
Is this it?
Its tucked up towards the top of the dash to the right of the steering column. If you're truck has the EEC under the dash, the cruise amplifier will be on top of the EEC. It sounds like the black box you're looking at is the wiper delay module. The cruise amplifier will a a 6 wire tan connector and a 6 wire grey connector tht plug into the bottom, and a 3 wire connector that plugs into a relay mounted on the side of the amplifier.

It should be to the right of the steering wheel and to the left of the ash tray under the front of the dash. There are two screws holding it in. I also thinkg there is a horn relay on top of it or some relay also. You will see it. I can take a pic if you would like. I have a couple of spare ones laying around also.
